Google task API update

June 16th, 2011

Finally Google released Google Task API in beta.

The OAuth 2.0 is used for authentication. The user has to authroize the app to access their Google Task data. It is still in beta testing.

The annoying part is that it limits 5,000 API call usages for third party app. If the daily usage is reached, any subsquent API call will be rejected for now. Hopefully, Google would lift API usage soon.

We are switching home-grown Google Task sync in iGTask for iCal to API code now.

How to restore deleted tasks in Google Task

Sometimes the tasks could be deleted accidentally, here is a tip to restore that. The tip is tested that it only works if the tasks are deleted not long ago.

Here is the tip on how to recover the deleted tasks in Google Task online:

Add a task in Google Task

Highlight the newly added task, then click on "Trash bin" icon on the bottom of task screen. There should be a color link of "view recently deleted items". Click on that link, go to the deleted item list screen

On the "recently delete items" screen, please locate the task item deleted, then click the "left arrow" restore icon in front of the deleted task item to restore it

It looks like iGTask for iCal should have a feature to backup the Google Task data. We are looking forward to adding that feature in iGTask for iCal coming update. Currently iGTask for iCal has a feature to backup iCal data.

There are some major updates in iGTask for iCal v2.0:

Sync both task and calendar event data between iCal and Google account online

iGTask run as a background process than a regular Mac application on top right menu bar

Sync multiple calendars and task lists with various sync configurations

Be able to configure selected calendars and task lists to sync

Both auto-sync and manual sync are supported

Custom domain is supported for task sync. The calendar sync isn't supported for custom domain due to lack of Google API.

iTaskPro for Outlook 2010 – sync task data between Outlook and iPhone is released

iPhone Outlook 2010 task sync with iTaskPro for Outlook 2010

First of all, we would like to give special thanks to the customers who have been participating beta testing of iTaskPro for Outlook 2010. Thank you for their participation and support, we appreciate it.

Here is how to update to iTaskPro for Outlook 2010:

Go to : www.innov8tion.com/customer/index.php , upon successful login, please click on "Orders". It will list all the order you have paid for iTaskPro before, there should be an "Update" button on the page to guide you to update to iTaskPro for Outlook 2010.
Upon successfully downloading of iTaskPro for Outlook 2010 installation file, you need to first to un-install previous version of iTaskPro. Here is how to un-install previous version of iTaskPro: Click "Start" on the bottom left corner on your PC, click "Control panel", click "Add/remove programs", please locate "iTaskPro" entry in populated program list, if any, please remove it.
After removing previous version of iTaskPro successfully, please run iTaskPro for Outlook 2010 installation file to install iTaskPro for Outlook 2010.
Upon successful installation of iTaskPro for Outlook 2010, you can open Outlook, "iTaskPro" button should appear on Outlook toolbar. Then you can sync from iPhone to Outlook.

Import notes:

If you upgrade from Outlook 2003/2007, Outlook 2010 should contain all the Outlook data from Outlook 2003/2007. Nonetheless, If you have brand new Outlook 2010 which does NOT contain Outlook data from previous Outlook 2003/2007 somehow and you do want to keep the task data on iTaskPro on iPhone to new Outlook 2010, please WAIT for iTaskPro iPhone update first prior to updating to iTaskPro for Outlook 2010. Otherwise, you will risk losing all the task data on iTaskPro on iPhone! We are submitting the update for iTaskPro on iPhone to Apple iTunes store, it will take a couple of weeks before they approve the app. The iTaskPro on iPhone update will backup your existing data first, so you don't risk losing all the data.

iGTask- Google Task sync with custom domain update

First of all, please allow me to give special thank you to Caston Thomas, Christopher Oconnor and Tom Wymore, who reported the issue to us and have helped us to work through the fixes. We appreciate it.

In the new update of iGTask, Google iCal Task sync software , it has the following fixes:

Google account custom domain support – supports Google account custom domain
Deleting calendar event issue when deleting all the task list from Google account
Diagnosis tool to export error log when it occurs
Threading concurrency enhancement

Here is how to set Google account custom domain:

Launch iGTask, click on "Tools" on the menu on the top left corner, click on "Custom domain setting", please mark the check box of "custom domain" if you are using Google account custom domain, then in the input field below to set your custom domain. For example, your domain is : www.yourdomain.com, please put in "yourdomain.com" without "www".

When logging into your Google account, in the "username" field, please put in your user name, the custom domain should be automatically populated if you have set it in "custom domain setting". For example, here is your Google account with customer domain: johndoe@yourdomain.com, in the "username" field, you just put in "johndoe". "@yourdomain.com" should be automatically populated if you have set in in "custom domain setting".

There are also two useful tools added in this update:

"Clear google cookies" – there might be an issue to access your google account with different cookies, so we add this tool to clear out those cookies and start fresh to avoid unnecessary error
"Export log" – most of issues should be resolved by "clear google cookies", if still an issue, please click on "Tools" —- "Export Log" to attach it to our tech support for further help.

iGTask – Google Task iCal Sync update

iGTask for iCal, Google Task sync with iCal, version of v1.5.2 is released!

In this release, the following bug and new enhancement is added:

"sync x minute" bug is fixed. Thanks a lot to our Customer Marcin helping us to find this bug. This option is auto-sync by the minute set by the user. So the user can set the minute, the iGTask for iCal, Google Task sync with iCal, is going to automatically synchronize the task on schedule.
A new enhancement on syncing to clear out the dead Google cookies. This enhancement is going to fix the sync hanging which some user might experience. If clicking on "Sync" button, it is just "syncing" without any result, please click on "More" in the menu option, then click on "Clear Google Cookies", then try to sync again.
